About Lia Hulit

Lia’s first experience abroad was in the highlands of Guatemala after 8th grade graduation and since then she’s been hooked on all things international. She graduated in 2009 from Barnard College where she studied Latin American Cultures and fell in love with Junot Diaz. After teaching on the Texas-Mexico border and working on her Spanglish, she headed south for a year to wander South America and teach English in Ecuador. She has led service teams in Mexico and dabbled in social entrepreneurism with female weavers in Peru. Lia is excited to promote solutions and spread the benefits of MCM as she admires the local ownership involved in our work. Lia joined Community Enterprise Solutions and Social Entrepreneur Corps team in November 2013 and is excited to be part of the effort in the DR.
