Impact: Overview

Over the years Social Entrepreneur Corps participants have been instrumental in the development and growth of our continuous development work. The first question we ask ourselves when  designing our programs is always “How can we engage participants in a way that facilitates a greater level of community impact?” Our programs are 100% based on creating community impact. And what we have found is that participants, working with us for one week or several months, can help us to serve our rural clients much more effectively and efficiently.

Using our “community first” approach, participants have helped rural constituents in innumerable ways. What kind of impact have Social Entrepreneur Corps interns created? In the past several years, interns have done the following, and more:

  • vetted water purification solutions
  • designed entrepreneur marketing materials
  • assessed needs of a water cachment solution
  • designed our energy efficient light bulb response
  • codified a mushroom growing business opportunity
  • redesiged a rural tourism restaurant
  • launched a small business newspaper
  • created new programs for rural education initiatives
